Daniel Simon, M.D. is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma care, and Ocular Surface Disease.
Born and raised on Long Island, he earned a Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York College at Geneseo and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1998.
Dr. Simon received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Downstate in Brooklyn, NY, four years later before completing a one-year internship in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Simon completed his Ophthalmology training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, where he became well-trained in all aspects of comprehensive eye care and served as Chief Resident.
He has presented clinical research at both the national and state levels. He has received recognition from the Virginia Society of Ophthalmology for his advocacy work on Capitol Hill. He joined North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat in 2009 after three years in private practice in the Charlotte area.
Dr. Simon specializes in a wide variety of advanced vision correction procedures, including Cataract surgery with Acrysof ReSTOR, toric (astigmatism-correcting) lens implant, the Tecnis Symfony extended-depth-of-focus lens implant, and is certified to perform Custom IntraLase bladeless LASIK. He also is experienced in Micro-Incisional Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS).
He lives in Chapel Hill with his wife, two boys, and a rescue dog.
