Dwight D. Perry, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist.

A native of North Carolina, Dr. Perry graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina Central University before earning his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following medical school, he completed an internship at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He then returned to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he completed a research fellowship in ophthalmology and his residency training in ophthalmology.

Dr. Perry is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and serves as an examiner for the Board. He is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Perry is deeply committed to healthcare leadership and community service. He has served on the attending staff and Board of Directors of North Carolina Specialty Hospital and the Durham Regional Hospital Board of Directors.

Recognized for his longstanding contributions to Durham’s medical community, Dr. Perry has also dedicated significant time to civic and community leadership. In 2019, Governor Roy Cooper appointed him to the North Carolina State Health Coordinating Council. His community service includes board leadership with the Central North Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Foundation for Better Health of Durham, and the John Avery Boys & Girls Club. He also served as Chairman of the North Carolina Central University Board of Trustees. Passionate about mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals, Dr. Perry regularly provides career-shadowing opportunities for high school students interested in pursuing careers in medicine.

Dr. Perry is married to Veronica J. F. Ray, M.D. Together, they have two adult children, Eva and Dwight Perry, Jr.
